perspectivear uses a two-tier vision system purpose-built for the trades. First, a fast on-device detector runs in real time inside your browser — locating the component in your camera feed without sending anything to a server. When you tap to identify, a frame is sent for analysis, and perspectivear returns the component name, description, and a complete step-by-step walkthrough. Per-step "look here" regions are mapped directly onto your frozen camera frame, so you always know exactly where to inspect. You're in control: nothing leaves your device until you choose to tap.

Yes, and this is a core design requirement — not a nice-to-have. HVAC equipment lives in basements, rooftops, mechanical rooms, and crawl spaces. perspectivear is built to handle all of it: low light, dirty or faded labels, awkward viewing angles, and greasy components. The on-device detector is optimized for real-world field conditions, not sterile lab environments. If you can see it with your eyes, perspectivear can work with it.

Privacy is a first-class constraint, not an afterthought. The on-device AR detector runs entirely on your phone or laptop — no camera data ever leaves your device during scanning. A single frozen frame is sent for identification only when you explicitly tap the screen. The API key is held server-side and never exposed to the client. There are no accounts, no stored job data, and no scan history in the current build. We designed perspectivear this way so contractors can deploy it without worrying about liability.
